The 2.8 percent cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) will begin with benefits in January 2026. Increased payments to SSI (Supplemental Security Income) recipients will begin on December 31, 2025. (Note: Some people receive both Social Security and SSI benefits.)

- Verify your earnings,
- Get estimates of future benefits,
- Print a benefit verification letter,
- Change your direct deposit information.
In-person
To get a Social Security appointment, use the SSA website to see if you can do your task online first (many things like getting a card or checking status don’t need an office visit). If you need in-person help, call the 800 number (1-800-772-1213) or your local office to schedule one, as appointments are required for in-person visits, typically Monday-Friday, 8:00 am -7:00 pm local time.
