There are many organizations in the Chicago area focused on patient advocacy. I didn’t realize. If you do a Google search, you’ll have quite a number of them to choose from.
My heart goes out to any Veterans that are affected by cuts taking place at the VA. It’s really sad that the people who have fought for our country are suffering more than they already have been.
I’ve been really focusing on my self-care these days. Part of that is I have a friend that’s helping with my mom, which gives me time to step away from the caregiving. Walks every day, sprinkled with the gym are great. Also, it gives me time to have a conversation with a friend without having to worry that I’m not paying attention to my mom. Grateful!
OMG, I can write a book on this topic. I’m seeing this so much right now with a patient of mine. It’s very sad to see when children make it about themselves, rather than the parent.
