During the holidays, all caregivers please please please remember you’re not alone and there’s help by dialing 988. We love you and need you in this world. 🤗
As you may know if you follow me on My Care Friends, mental health is a main topic of my life. My mom suffers from serious issues and I’m challenged as a result. I hope caregivers everywhere will reach out to someone trusted and safe if you’re overtaxed from your responsibilities. This is so important, especially during the holidays! 🙏
One of my favorite holiday traditions is going to the movies. I love the food, but I love movies more. Does anyone have recommendations of what to see?
My NYC meditation community is planning a group meditation near Central Park (if warm enough, in the park) the weekend of Thanksgiving. I hope caregivers will remember that meditation is really helpful anytime and especially during the holidays.
Ahhh, the holidays — so special, so challenging sometimes (or often) with family. Love them, but sometimes they can be a bit much. Since this is National Caregivers Month, I want to remind caregivers that you’re not alone in the journey. We have many resources at our disposal on the internet and in our communities. Please don’t hesitate to reach out.
As we begin to plan for the holidays — travel, meals, etc. — I’m reminding all caregivers to make sure to plan self-care. While the holidays can be a wonderful time in many ways, they can also be challenging for various reasons. Let’s all commit to ourselves to take time for quiet solitude, exercise, and/or whatever works for you to take of yourselves!
For Thanksgiving with family, I’ll be making a number of things. Pumpkin Pecan Chocolate Chip pie is a favorite! Also, for some reason I love making the stuffing with cranberries and pecans. Hmmm, maybe I just love pecans! 😊
