Meditation continues to be so helpful for me as I navigate caregiving for my mom and my own challenges. I started with Meg James here on My Care Friends, and feel like I’m transported to another place when listening to her.
I’ve really gotten into paint by number recently. I can only begin to tell you how relaxing it is. It helps me truly step away — figuratively — from caregiving for my mom. I hope other caregivers have found this hobby helpful, too.
Seems like I post in this group quite a bit. Is anyone interested in a virtual group to connect via Zoom periodically on this topic? I think it would be really helpful to share. DM me if you’re interested.
How do you as a caregiver define and derive your spiritual life? Do you believe in G-d? Do you take comfort in nature? I’m interested to know where others draw strength overall and especially in difficult times.
I’ve been following http://www.everycure.org for a while now and it’s so heartening to see the work they are doing. I highly recommend all caregivers and advocates follow this organization, because you never know when a loved one may benefit from what they are doing.
5+ weeks into 2026 and it’s apparent to me that the healthcare system is on overdrive. Not in a good way. I’m very concerned for anyone who doesn’t have a person to advocate for them. As an educated person I have challenges, but someone not educated or with little experience advocating will face an steep uphill climb.
A new client has Alzheimer’s. I’ve been down this road before, but while it seems like I’ve experienced it before it also seems new. New person. New family. New environment. Just new. But, no matter how new, it’s no less heartbreaking.
