Updated: July 28, 2023

We’re guessing you’ve been to another page on our site before checking out our Privacy Policy, so welcome again to This page is used to inform website visitors regarding our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information if anyone decided to use My Care Friends (“Service”) as a visitor or member.

If you choose to use the Service, then you agree to the collection and use of information in relation with this policy and Terms of Use. The Personal Information that we collect are used for providing and improving the Service. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.

Since you’re here, we are thrilled (and guess) you are interested in becoming a member of our unique caregiver and patient advocate community. Because we value your participation, it’s essential to us that we share how we handle an important topic…your privacy. You’ll see this explained below.

So, let’s get down to it…

Your Comments

When community members leave comments on the site, we of course collect the data shown in all comment forms. At the same time, on the technology side, we also collect IP addresses and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

Your Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Community members can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

This is related to the technology kind. Unfortunately, not the sugary, chocolate chip kind.

Cookies are files with a small amount of data that are commonly used as an anonymous unique identifier. These are sent to your browser from websites that you visit and are stored on your computer’s hard drive.

Our website uses these “cookies” to collection information and to improve our Service and user experience. You have the option to either accept or refuse these cookies, and know when a cookie is being sent to your computer. If you choose to refuse our cookies, you may not be able to use some portions of the Service. Sorry, but it’s important we have cookies – even if they aren’t sugary.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.) Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way, as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content. This includes tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged into that website.

Who we share your data with

We may employ third-party companies and individuals due to the following reasons:

  • To facilitate our Service;
  • To provide the Service on our behalf;
  • To perform Service-related services; or
  • To assist us in analyzing how our Service is used.

We want to inform our Service users that these third parties have access to your Personal Information. The reason is to perform the tasks assigned to them on our behalf. However, they are obligated not to disclose or use the information for any other purpose.

Log Data

We want to inform you that whenever you visit our Service, we collect information that your browser sends to us that is called Log Data. This Log Data may include information such as your computer’s Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, browser version, pages of our Service that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, and other statistics.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained for the length of time necessary to ensure the site is fluid and operational. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username.) Website administrators can also see and edit that information, if necessary.

We keep the information as along as we need it to provide our Service, comply with legal obligations or protect our other interests. We decide how long we need information on a case-by-case basis. Here’s what we consider when we decide:

  • If we need to operate or provide our Service.
  • The feature we use if for, and how that feature works.
  • How long we need to retain the information to comply with certain legal obligations.
  • If we need it for other legitimate purposes, such as to prevent harm; investigate possible violations of our Terms of Use or Community Guidelines; promote safety, security and integrity; or protect ourselves, including our rights, property or Service.
  • In some instances and for specific reasons, we’ll keep information for an extended period of time.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can export your personal data we hold about you. You can also delete your profile. This does not include data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
