Sexual and gender minorities are becoming more visible in the long-term care industry. Ethical and regulatory standards state that one cannot discriminate based on sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. It is important to learn how to interact with others without engaging in unintentional discriminatory behaviors. In this course, you will learn about the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and/or questioning, intersex, and asexual and/or ally (LGBTQIA) population, influences on LGBTQIA individuals, increasing your self-awareness, and information needed to satisfy relevant California regulations.
